Analytical solution for an orthotropic elastic plate containing cracks
The problem of estimating the bending stress distribution in the neighborhood of a crack located on a single line in an orthotropic elastic plate of constant thickness subjected to bending moment or twisting moment is examined. Using classical plate theory and integral transform techniques, the general formulae for the bending moment and twisting moment in an elastic plate containing cracks loc...
متن کاملPAIRED ANISOTROPIC DISTRIBUTION FOR IMAGE SELECTIVE SMOOTHING
In this paper, we present a novel approach for image selective smoothing by the evolution of two paired nonlinear partial differential equations. The distribution coefficient in de-noising equation controls the speed of distribution, and is determined by the edge-strength function. In the previous works, the edge-strength function depends on isotropic smoothing of the image...
متن کاملOn Group Velocity of Elastic Waves, in an Anisotropic Plate
The equivalence of the energy velocity and the group velocity is often taught in university physics. An early proof of the equivalence of the two velocities for one-dimensional water waves was given by Rayleigh [1]. In the 1950s and 1960s many studies [2}4] were done to show the equivalence of the two velocities for more general systems. Later, in the 1990s, Awati and Howes raised a question as...
متن کاملOn the circumferential shear stress around circular and elliptical holes
The circumferential shear stress along the boundary of a traction-free circular hole in an infinite isotropic solid under antiplane shear is twice the circumferential shear stress along the corresponding circle in an infinite solid without a hole, under the same loading conditions. This result, originally derived by Lin et al. (Yielding, damage, and failure of anisotropic solids. EGF Publicatio...
متن کاملAn anisotropic elastic formulation for configurational forces in stress space
A new variational principle for an anisotropic elastic formulation in stress space is constructed, the Euler–Lagrange equations of which are the equations of compatibility (in terms of stress), the equilibrium equations and the traction boundary condition. Such a principle can be used to extend recently obtained configurational balance laws in stress space to the case of anisotropy.
